Quick description of your role in each company:
TIBCO Software ($700m revenues): Senior Director of Global Demand Generation - Managing a global team of 35 people across Field Marketing, Direct Marketing, Event Marketing and Inside Sales, I was responsible for all aspects of development and rollout of global marketing programs to source and accelerate pipeline, the database strategy, marketing automation, event calendaring/delivery and closed loop lead management.

Cisco Systems Inc ($40bn revenues): Director of Marketing, Americas - Managing a distributed team of 30 people, I'm responsible for creating, executing and performing analytics on outbound marketing campaigns that create brand awareness, nurture customer loyalty and build/accelerate pipeline for Cisco's Americas sales team.

Original Goal(s) and/or challenges that prompted you to want to work with Philippe Lavie, KeyRoad Enterprises?
At both companies, I was faced with politically charged dynamics that made the functional delivery of my work challenging. I reached out to Philippe for professional coaching to:
(i) help me better navigate the invisible rules of engagement in each workplace that characterized the political landscape
(ii) hone and productively use my understanding of the balance power and influence in the work environment for better result
(iii) draw on his considerable insight and wisdom around general organizational and team dynamics and
(iv) brainstorm professional and personal strategies to chart my goals and evolution in each role with a 'safe' and constructive partner.

What did you and Philippe do during the course of your work together?
As we worked together almost 100% remotely, Philippe and I established a regular cadence of calls during which time we'd review the latest updates from my workplace needing my focus. That was usually a cocktail of contentious issues, challenges, politics and opportunities for me to optimize with only one shot.

We'd typically focus on the topic, which would have either the biggest impact across the organization or the topic which was causing me the most stress. I'd paint the picture from my perspective and Philippe would systematically de-construct the topic into a series of manageable next steps. Through discussion about what would likely work and what wouldn't, we'd reach an action plan which I'd then implement. At the next call we'd review what had happened and then turn to a fresh set of discussion points for the next few weeks.

What benefits did you secure and results achieved with your work with Philippe?
Importantly for me, Philippe was a constant reminder to bring everything I planned to do back to the original professional and personal goals we'd shaped together in the early phases of our engagement, which helped ensure a steady progression in my career path.

In all our interactions he challenged my ideas and beliefs, introduced fresh perspective when I was sure of my decisions, offered practical tips to daily trials and otherwise reassured, advised and congratulated as I navigated my way through each work environment. The knowledge that I always had a safe place to vent, rant and rage to someone who had an objective perspective on me as a person and professional was invaluable as I started to cross the power lines in each organization. Philippe helped me keep my cool, keep things in perspective and grow enormously along the way.
